Volunteering

If you’re looking to start the next chapter of your life by doing some good, you might want to consider volunteer work. Beyond offering a sense of purpose and fulfillment, it’s a great way to develop practical skills, build your network and forge a meaningful connection to a community — down the street or on the other side of the world.

What Is Volunteering and Why Volunteer?

Volunteering, in its simplest form, is giving time and skills to help others without expecting anything in return, like payment. Many people enjoy volunteer work for the sense of satisfaction they gain from it, while others see it as a way to acquire new skills, build their work experience and make new connections. Whatever might draw you to volunteering, it’s an excellent first step — or second step, or interlude — to any career.

How To Volunteer

No two volunteer opportunities are alike, but many share a similar onboarding process. You’ll likely have to pass some form of background check and go through some level of orientation to start working.
